Safe cycling

On Tuesday the 3rd constable Jos  came  and then in the afternoon constable Terry came to help. The first thing we did was we had a talk in the morning about bikes and bike helmets. Then Tasman bought her bike in and we looked at it, we learnt to check our tyres, brakes, spokes and check if the bolts are holding every thing on tight. Then we looked at her helmet to see if the polystyrene was DSC03402.JPG cracked if it was then you would have to  get a new one.

Then the next thing we did was go out onto the court and they were setting up a course that you had to look back and the put your right  of left hand up so people new which way you were going. Then we were practicing to put our hand up for a stop sign so that people know that you are stopping  soon because if you don't  put you hand out they will think you are going straight ahead ahead and run over you. I learnt that hand signals are very important when you are out on the road so is looking back  so you can see what is going on behind you as well

Then had some fun on our bikes. They made up a fun course that you had to follow so the first the was zig zag around the cones and that was all around then we went on to a plank  thad you went up and it dropped down. Then there was another one but it was bigger than the other one you had to go on and the ladder it was to try and keep you from losing your balance. Then we did it around the road and we had to follow the parents. We had to do hand signals correctly. Then we did a slow race that we had to go as slow as we could.

Top team

Top team
On Wednesday the 5th some of the school went to top team. When we got to Paroa, Kamara was there as well. When we got there we got put into teams and my team started at activity 3. It was building the blocks up as high as you can. When the horn went you started and then when the  horn went again you stopped. Our team won that game we had the highest tower. Then  the lady sent  us past both of the water games and to the next games.

When we did the conveyer belt that was very hard because it kept getting all tangled up in our feet. My favorite game was the gumboot throwing it got ones and twos sometimes I didn't even get it  on the target. My team didn't even get to do the water games so we all tipped water on ourselves at the end. I learnt how to work together as a team.

A lady called Diana Queenin.   came into the school to talk about fossils,Geodes, stingrays, horseshoe crabs and orcas. She showed us  some sting rays tails they had little spikes the orcas target sting rays and they eat them. Then she talked about fossils and she showed us some rocks that had been cut open for her. One was just a yucky old rock but the she opened it and it some beautiful crystal she said that there is a big cave full of them, they are big enough for a man to walk on the ones that have fallen over.

Then she showed us another one  in that rock there was like a jellyfish with a shell it was inside the rock. The next thing she showed us was a big horseshoe crab shell it had it legs left in the shell  and three eyes  and like a stinging tail but I don't know if they do sting. Then she showed us a dinosaur poo we got to hold it it didn't smell bad it just smelt like rock. Then she showed us  some snakeskin and told us how they shed.P1010134.JPG
